I Hate Constipation!!

Last Tuesday I had a very dramatic episode in the toilet.  It will be one of those moments which I will never forget and I wish that it will never happen to me again! As some of you probably aware... I've been having constipation throughout my pregnancy.  It was very much better especially during the 2nd trimester all the way till recently where I have difficulties again....

Anyway, just went I wanted to update my blog last Tuesday I had the urge to go to the loo to do "big business".  I was happy because I couldn't go for the last 2 days.  So just went I thought finally I can go without much strained....boy was I wrong! The stools were so hard that after the whole ordeal I knew I was bleeding.

Instantly, I panic and didn't know what to do.  Hubby was out with his friends so I didn't have anyone to get reassurance from.  So I just shut down the computer and lie on the bed thinking what are the possibilities that it will affect my son.  Anyhow, I did really strained myself in the loo.  All sorts of weird thoughts came to mind.  I went to the toilet to double check again and there were still pinkish spotting on the tissue.  I thought OK maybe it will heal by tomorrow.  I told hubby about it when he came home.  He even asked me if I needed to go to the hospital.  I told him that I'm not in pain so I said to give it another day and decide from there.

Yesterday, while at work the spotting was on and off.  I even checked with a friend to get some reassurance since she's an experienced mother.  She said there shouldn't be anything to worry about and suspect that I could be having haemorrhoids.  Anyway, I thought by today the spotting should stop.... unfortunately this morning I still see it.

I even double checked again before calling the doctor and there were still blood stains on the tissue.  I called the clinic and wanted to speak to the dr but she was with a patient.  The nurse was very kind to ask whether I wanted to leave a message for a doctor.  I told her that I am bleeding and would like to speak to the doctor.  She asked if I am pregnant and I said yes.  She told me that in that case the doctor would usually like to see the patient personally and the nurse was very kind to offer me to go in without an appointment (my appointment was supposed to be tomorrow) and she said she will slot me in when I arrive.

I woke hubby up this morning and told him that about the doctor's appointment and asked whether he can accompany me to the clinic.  He agreed and we left the house about 9.15am.  When we arrived we were so lucky to find a parking right infront of the clinic and there were no patient when I went in.  As usual, I took my urine test and immediately went in to the doctor's room and explained my situation.  She took my weight and check on our baby.  Thank goodness, everything is fine.  Placenta is not low which is a good sign and baby heartbeat is normal.  He is growing according to schedule so what a relief! Anyway, he's head is still not 'engaged' yet according to the doctor and he is 36weeks and 4 days today.  Doctor said she will check on my vagina and may need to do a swab test which is painless.

She said couldn't see any bleeding, but saw there's a lot of white discharge and it could potentially be an infection.  So she did a swab test and it wasn't painless!! Either that region down there is super sensitive or I was so nervous that it became painful! I was thinking that pap smear wasn't that painful! Anyway, thank god everything is OK and the result for the swab test will be out in 3 days.  So hopefully everything will be normal when the results are out.  She even gave me some mild laxatives as she doesn't want me to strain in the toilet anymore.

Although... I am still very confused as I still see spotting today! Where is it coming from? Where ever it is....Please go away!

Exhausted Mummy & Active Baby

I know... I know... I shouldn't be complaining that my baby is getting more and more active these days especially during the night but baby been so active that he wakes me up in the middle of the night! Anyway, last week both of us were very tired.  Sad to say daddy's grandma passed away peacefully at home last Tuesday.

Nevertheless, we are all very proud of her to be able to live up to 97 years old without much complains except for the last few years where she's just being a typical old lady.  The wake was held at our house in PJ and there were so many relatives from all over came back and some of them were sleeping at our place.  So daddy told mummy and baby to go back to our condo to have proper rest.  Mummy and baby continue going to work during the day and after work we drive back to PJ to attend the wake... well not really attend I was just there taking care of the 'pak kum' most of the time and then around midnight we will drive ourselves back to Subang again.  This went on from Tuesday through till Friday.  We didn't return back to Subang on Friday because we had an early start on Saturday for the funeral so baby and I stayed back in PJ on Friday night.  On Saturday, all of us woke up very early and prepare for the funeral.  Baby and I joined in the prayers too to say our last good bye to grandma/greatgrandma.  After prayers we adjourned to Nirvana to perform the last ritual.

Some cousins and relatives came back to our house for vegetarian lunch.  Baby and I had bread instead.  We even manage to bring Russ for grooming.  After some of the relatives left, we decided to take a nap before going back to the groomers to pick up Russ even daddy joined us on our sleeping session.  Baby and I went to pick up Russ from the groomers because daddy was too tired.  Anyway, when we arrive home daddy was already awake.  We chatted with the relatives for a while before driving back to Subang for the weekend.

So the above explains why the mummy is exhausted.  As for active baby, well what I can conclude is that baby is obviously getting bigger and there's not much room for him to move around.  So whenever he starts moving I can feel it very strong that at times it wakes me up from my sleep.  Sometimes, I can't even eat properly because I felt that something is blocking the food from going down.  At times, while I was trying to enjoy my TVB he will start to move around which at the end I couldn't find a comfortable position on the sofa.  At times, he likes to play with daddy.  I think he can sense when daddy trying to play with him by pushing my stomach and he will push back sometimes.  Sometimes it gets quite rough that I myself can't take it!  I noticed that he moves alot when I'm having my lunch and also just before I finish work around 5-6 in the evening.  After that he will be quiet until when I lie on the bed getting ready to sleep he will be wide awake!

Ahh...the joy of being a preggers.... less than a month to go! Yayyyyyy!

34 Weeks & 6 Days

Frankly, I've been starting to count down to D-Day.  We are getting so excited preparing for the arrival of our son.  Even though I'm not sure what to expect on D-Day but like my mum said all women go through it! So I'm quite sure I can go through it without any problems! I have also decided that epidural will be my last resort.  I sincerely hope that I do not have a pro-long labour.

If the EDD is correct, in 5 weeks time we should be able to meet our son and our sleepless nights will begin.  Today, we went to Pantai Hospital for check up.  It was a long long wait but after looking at the ultrasound is all worth the wait.  Doctor said everything is going very well.  Baby is growing at the rate that he should be weighing about 2.3kg.  The ultrasound shows that the head is facing downwards towards my pubic area but still not engaged yet.  The legs are right where my ribs are! No wonder it gets so uncomfortable when he starts to move..but everytime he moves I will always have a smile on my face because I know that he's doing well and he's just trying to stretch.  It is getting a bit cramp in there.  Doctor was also explaining to us when should we check in for labour.  She told us that every now and then I will feel my belly tightening.  The tightening will last about 45 seconds or so and it is not painful.  She assured us that there's nothing to be worry about.  We should start timing it when the tightening is consistently painful because is a sign that labour is beginning.  She mentioned that if the tightening/contraction is 10mins apart we should be heading to the hospital.  Doctor also mentioned that, some women may bleed which we call it a show.  She also reassured us that is no big deal.  She told us that only to go to the hospital if it is accompanied with contraction.  Nevertheless, if we are unsure, we can still go to the hospital and get the mid wife to strap us up and she will be able to determine whether am I in labour or otherwise.  The last thing that might happen is when the waterbag pops.  She even explained that when the waterbag breaks is a continuous trickle down our legs and really wet.  When this happen is best that we check into the hospital as once the waterbag breaks and if labour is still not coming along we may need to be induced to prevent any infection.

After today's check up it is very clear that I may be in labour anytime soon! Hubby even started packing my runaway bag.  Time really flies.... not sure to be worried or excited for labour!

Welcome to the Year of the Rabbit!!

Gong Xi! Gong Xi! Honestly, this year not much mood for Chinese New Year... why? Because I didn't get to buy lots of new clothes to wear.  Well not that I buy lots of clothes every year but at the very least the  whole set from top to toe, in and out that can last at the very least 2 days.  The main reason is because I'm now 8 months pregnant and I'm not willing to spend so much on maternity clothing which I know I will not wear after I deliver.  In the end, I only manage to get a pair of shoe, a denim skirt, legging and bra.

Every year, on the first day of CNY we have a fixed set of routine to follow.  We will wake up early and get ready for our visiting.  Usually, we will not have breakfast at home first but this year because I get really hungry when I wake up so I decided to have breakfast at home.  My in-laws also prepared breakfast which consist of mee sua soup which I didn't eat and choose to have bread instead.  Little did I know that it is a tradition for Hokkiens to have mee sua on the first day of CNY to represent longevity.  Oh well, as I mentioned in my earlier posts, I am still having my set of breakfast ie orange juice, milk, papaya so with all that somehow mee sua just don't seem to fit in.  More over, I really don't fancy having noodles for breakfast.  The only Asian breakfast I can take is Roti Canai or Nasi Lemak.

Anyway, after breakfast we left the house and headed towards Klang.  The first house that we visited is our 5th grand aunt's family.  She's a very warm and kind hearted lady.  First thing she offered is to have breakfast again! She fried some vegetarian bee hoon and boiled barley with gingko nuts and longan.  My FIL continue chit chatting with the rest of the family while hubby and I watch TV in the living room.  My SIL managed to catch up with us and all we do is just watch tv and wait for the green light to leave for the next house.

Second house that we visited in Klang is 1st grand aunt's family.  This year they are mourning but we still visit just to see how she's coping with the lost of her husband recently.  Again, the younger generations will have our own little session while waiting for my FIL comforting our grand aunt.  The topic in this house was how she manage to clean all the figurines without a maid.  Imagine the amount of display items she has we have estimated that if she cleans it one a day it will take her more than a year!

At about 11.30am we adjourned to 7th grand aunt's family.  Every year, they will have an open house luncheon.  Therefore, we are there every year for lunch.  The lunch is prepared by their house maid and at the same time they also cater Satay which is delicious! The must have is the chicken pie... yum yum! I used to love the sambal sotong but somehow this year I'm not sure whether is it my pregnancy or my taste bud has changed as I find it too spicy for my liking.  After lunch, is time to go home to rest and get ready for dinner.

We used to eat out for dinner on the first day of CNY.  However, since last year we all have decided not to because we are all very bored with the set menu offered by chinese restaurants.  We decided to have pot luck.  I cooked chili mussels with garlic bread.  My eldest SIL cooked shepperd's pie while my 2nd SIL cooked lamb stew.  We also had imported roast pork from Philippines.  All of us agreed that all this are much better than the 10 course dinner.  The kids enjoyed a few rounds of X Box Kinect till the extend that they do not want to go home.

Second day of CNY, we have lunch at another relative house in Shah Alam.  Usually, this family will have open house for dinner but plans changed this year.  Anyway, we had fried "rice cake", porridge, fried tang hoon, loh bak, pie tee and for dessert I had sago gula melaka.  As for dinner, we just had simple dishes at home.

Third day of CNY, again we went out for lunch with more relatives.  We went to Rakuzen in Empire.  One of the relatives also brought some fried 'new year cake' with yam.  One of my favourite food during CNY besides from all the pineapple tarts, kuih kapit and fried arrowroot chips.  As for dinner, we planned to have BBQ.  Unfortunately, it was pouring really bad and we had to change our plans.  We end up cooking the marinated meat on the stove and we used the hot plate to cook some bacon to preserve the heat for the cooked meat.  Even though our plans changed at the very last minute we all still enjoyed ourselves.  My eldest SIL made some really good salad! Well I must say she have not failed in any of her salad! While my second SIL made jacket potato.  Haven't have them for ages! Reminds me of my favourite from Oliver Sandwich.  Jacket potato with sour cream and bacon bits! Lovely!! As for dessert we had mango puding with nata de coco and ice cream potong.

Fourth day of CNY, we decided to have something light.  We decided to go Alexis in Gardens to have lunch.  I ordered a caesar salad while hubby ordered his favourite Alexis burger.  I also ordered bread and butter pudding as my dessert.  Yummy!! My FIL also joined us for lunch.  He ordered a smoked salmon sandwich.  After lunch, we went into Robinson for a walk before we head home and rest for dinner.  We had dinner at Green View in SS2 with some relatives.  We had their specialty which is 'Sang Har' Noodles.  We also ordered some lala, chicken, suckling pig, sea cucumber and steam cod fish.

After the fourth day, things start to mellow down.  We decided to head back to Subang to stay over and because I took leave for 2 days I make full use of it by resting at home!  Phew.... what a week it was!
